Our Move-In Applications feature allows you to send an application to Listers that have their place available for rent. Once you have found a place you like and the Lister has accepted your chat request, you can send a Move-In Application to them. Once your payment information is entered, Roomi will place a hold on your first month's rent, as well as a small service fee. All Move-In Applications have 72 hours to be accepted or declined. If declined, we'll return your deposit and service fee back to the original payment method. If your request is approved, we take the apartment off the market and hold onto the funds until your move in day. We will release the funds to your roommate on move in day, unless you tell us otherwise.

How do I send a Move-In Application?

  1. Once you have found a listing you really like, message the Lister and let them know you're interested in their space
  2. Once you have started a conversation with the Lister, click 'Send Application' at the top of the message thread. Move-In Applications can be sent at any time once you start a conversation with someone.

3. Fill out the Move-In Application and then click 'Send Application'

How do I view my Move-In Application Requests?

  1. Login to your Roomi account and click 'My Requests' from the menu at the top
  2. Click 'Ignore' or 'Accept Instantly'

How do I cancel a Move-In Application?

  1. Login to your Roomi account and click 'My Requests' from the menu at the top
  2. Click 'Cancel Request' under Outgoing Requests

Why should I use Move-In Applications?

When using Move-In Applications you can ensure the potential roommate has the funds necessary for your first month's rent. No need to collect money, exchange cash, etc. We handle the payment for you.

What happens when my Move-In Application is accepted?

If your application is accepted, we take the apartment off the market and hold on to your payment until your move-in day.

What happens when my Move-In Application is denied?

If your application is denied, the hold will be removed from your account.

How is my payment sent?

Payments will be sent once the applicant has confirmed with Roomi that the move-in has successfully occurred or they approve the releasing of the funds.

How do I receive my payment?

Once a move-in has been confirmed by the applicant, we will release funds to the lister, either via check or PayPal depending on their preference.
